SSAI Announcement - February 2010 It gives me great pleasure to announce the ‘Irish Target Sports ‘(ITS) have become the latest association to join the SSAI. This follows an overwhelming majority vote in favour of accepting their application to join by the existing bodies of the Shooting Sports association of Ireland. This latest addition to the group also means that almost all target shooters in Ireland, whatever their chosen discipline, are now part of one cohesive organisation. I am heartened that during these uncertain times for target shooters, the spirit of co-operation and the willingness to work together for all our sports was never stronger. Together we will continue to strive to promote and develop the safe enjoyment of target shooting. There are undoubtedly some contentious areas relating to the new licensing system as it evolves, but we in target shooting are looking forward and have made much progress in creating a solid foundation to build on. We are moving towards securing our sport for the future generations in a way which will copper fasten the legitimacy of target shooting in its many forms , it is vitally important in this regard that all the aspects of target sports recognise the importance of building stronger working relationships with the sports administration bodies into the future. What is emerging from the process is an increased sense of recognition that we all need to work together patiently and thoughtfully to allow our sports to flourish and prosper. This latest addition to the SSAI family is an endorsement of our progress to date and evidence of the core strength, and maturity of attitude and co-operative approach necessary to carry us all forward. We are stronger together. Joe Costello Chairman
Statement from the SSAI following the Open Meeting on Saturday 7/11/2009 Please be advised that the SSAI have agreed a contribution to the legal fund established by the NASRPC in the amount of 8,218.16 Euro (old defunct FLAG fund) . These funds to be used for advancement of such cases as they may decide. I feel as Chairman of the SSAI, It is appropriate that the largest pistol shooting NGB, the NASRPC are supported in this way to allow them to continue the defensive action fund they instigated at their recent meeting in Dublin . Regards Joe Costello - Chairman - SSAI
